Blox Fruits is one of Roblox’s most popular games, but it’s also one of the most overwhelming for new players. Devil fruits, fighting styles, stats, haki, three entire seas worth of content - there’s a lot to figure out.
This guide cuts through the noise. We’re covering everything you need to reach level 700 and unlock the Second Sea: which stats to invest in, which fruits are worth using, where to level efficiently, and which upgrades matter most.
If you’ve just started playing and you’re wondering why enemies keep killing you, or you’re stuck at level 200 with no idea what to do next - this guide is for you.
We’re not going to sugarcoat it: Blox Fruits is grindy. But if you follow this progression path, you’ll avoid the common mistakes that waste hours of your time.
Quick Start: Choose Pirate (not Marine), invest stats in Melee + Defense early, and try to get a Logia fruit from the Jungle Gacha as soon as possible. Logia fruits make the First Sea significantly easier.
What is Blox Fruits?
Blox Fruits is a One Piece-inspired RPG where you level up by completing quests, fighting bosses, and unlocking new abilities. The game is split into three “seas” (essentially difficulty tiers), each with unique islands, enemies, and content.
Core gameplay loop:
- Accept quests from NPCs
- Kill the required number of enemies
- Gain XP and money
- Invest stat points to get stronger
- Unlock new areas and repeat
The depth comes from choosing the right fruits, fighting styles, weapons, and stats for your playstyle. PvE players focus on grinding efficiently. PvP players optimize for combat combos and bounty hunting.
Why progression matters: Blox Fruits is a long-term game. The First Sea alone takes 30-50 hours to complete if you’re grinding efficiently. The Second Sea takes another 40-60 hours. The Third Sea is endgame content that takes hundreds of hours to fully complete.
This guide focuses on the First Sea (levels 1-700) because that’s where most new players struggle.
Pirate or Marine?
When you first spawn, the game asks you to choose: Pirate or Marine.
Here’s the truth: It doesn’t matter much. You can switch teams anytime by talking to the Military Detective at the Prison (level 190+ area).
However, we recommend starting as Pirate for two reasons:
- Quest progression is smoother. Most guides assume you’re playing Pirate, so following along is easier.
- Better spawns. The Pirate starter island has better quest layout than the Marine base.
The main difference between teams is PvP - Pirates can attack other Pirates, while Marines can’t attack other Marines unless they’re wanted criminals. For PvE grinding, this doesn’t matter at all.
Bottom line: Pick Pirate, follow this guide, and don’t overthink it.
The Stats System
Every time you level up, you get 3 stat points to spend across five categories:
Melee - Increases fighting style damage and energy (used for dashing and abilities)
Defense - Increases maximum health
Sword - Increases sword weapon damage
Gun - Increases gun weapon damage
Blox Fruit - Increases devil fruit ability damage
Early Game Stat Priority
If you DON’T have a Logia fruit:
- 70% Melee, 30% Defense until level 300
- Goal: 300+ HP, then focus Melee
If you DO have a Logia fruit:
- Get Melee to 1,000 energy (for dashing), then 100% Blox Fruit
- Add 300+ HP from Defense once you hit Second Sea
Why Melee first? Fighting styles are your primary damage source in early game. Swords don’t become worth investing in until you get good swords in the Second Sea. Guns are almost never worth it for PvE.
Why Defense matters: Without defense, bosses one-shot you. 300+ HP is the minimum to survive most boss attacks with Aura active.
Common Stat Mistakes
❌ Don’t split stats evenly - You’ll be mediocre at everything instead of strong at one thing
❌ Don’t invest in Gun - Guns are weak for grinding, only useful for PvP combos later
❌ Don’t ignore Defense entirely - Even skilled players need HP to survive boss mechanics
✅ Do specialize - Pick Melee OR Blox Fruit and commit
✅ Do get stat refunds later - You can reset stats in the Second Sea, so don’t stress too much
Devil Fruits Explained
Devil fruits are the heart of Blox Fruits. They grant special abilities, change your playstyle, and make grinding significantly easier - if you get the right fruit.
There are three fruit types: Natural (Paramecia) grants unique abilities like Rubber or Barrier - most are mediocre for grinding. Beast (Zoan) transforms you into animals with stat boosts - generally not recommended for First Sea. Elemental (Logia) is what you want - these fruits make you immune to damage from enemies below your level who don’t have Aura.
Here’s the mechanic that makes Logia fruits overpowered: If you have a Logia fruit equipped, enemies that are LOWER LEVEL than you cannot damage you (unless they have Aura, which only some do). This means you can AFK while enemies hit you and take zero damage. You can group up 10+ enemies with no risk. Bosses become trivial because you only dodge 1-2 attacks. Example: You’re level 200 with an Ice fruit fighting level 150 enemies. They physically cannot hurt you. You just stand there, group them up, and kill them all at once.
Best Logia fruits for First Sea: Flame (decent damage, flight ability), Ice (good damage, ice skating movement), Smoke (weakest Logia but still effective), Light (best Logia for First Sea - extremely fast flight and good damage), Dark (good damage, no flight), and Magma (high damage, flight ability, top tier for grinding). Any of these fruits will carry you through the First Sea. If you get Light or Magma, you hit the jackpot.
How to get fruits: The Blox Fruit Dealer on Starter Island sells fruits for money or Robux - stock changes every 3.5 hours. If you see a Logia fruit here, buy it immediately. The Blox Fruit Gacha in Jungle (level 50+) costs money and gives you a random fruit every 2 hours - this is your most reliable early-game method. World Spawns occur randomly every hour, but don’t waste time hunting these early on.
Strategy: Once you hit level 50, start using the Gacha every 2 hours. Keep rolling until you get a Logia fruit. Yes, it might take 10+ rolls. It’s worth it. If your first fruit is Chop, Kilo, Spin, or any non-Logia fruit, eat it anyway - having any fruit is better than nothing. Then keep using the Gacha until you get a Logia. When you do, eat that new fruit and it’ll automatically replace your old one. Don’t pay the Blox Fruit Remover (50,000) to remove a fruit - just eat a new one when you get it.
Fighting Styles
Fighting styles are your melee combat abilities. You start with Combat, which is the worst fighting style in the game.
Fighting Styles You Need
Dark Step (Pirate Village, level 30+) - Costs 150,000. Solid improvement over Combat. All moves are leg-based kicks with good range.
Electric (Upper Skylands, level 210+) - Costs 500,000. Best fighting style for First Sea. High damage, great combo potential, works perfectly for boss fights.
Water Kung Fu (Fishman Island, level 400+) - Costs 750,000. Strongest First Sea style, but unlocks late. Only get this if you didn’t buy Electric.
Recommended Path
- Level 1-30: Use Combat (you have no choice)
- Level 30-210: Buy Dark Step, use until you can afford Electric
- Level 210-700: Buy Electric, use for everything
Why Electric is worth it: The moves combo smoothly, the damage is high, and it makes boss fights significantly easier. The Z move (Thunder Clap) is a fast stun, C move (Thunder Beam) deals high damage, and X move (Electric Claw) is a gap closer.
If you’re using a Logia fruit for defense and Electric for offense, you’ll breeze through the First Sea.
Leveling Guide: First Sea Progression
Here’s the optimal leveling path from 1 to 700. This route avoids backtracking and wasted time. Group enemies together before killing them for maximum efficiency.
Early Islands (Levels 1-150)
Starter Island & Jungle (1-30): You’ll fight Bandits, Monkeys, and Gorillas here. The Gorilla quest is where you’ll spend most of your time. Group 3 Gorillas together before killing them. Fight Gorilla King (boss) whenever he spawns for bonus XP. Critical task: Step on all 5 hidden buttons scattered across the Jungle islands - you’ll need this for Saber sword and Observation Haki later. YouTube tutorials show exact button locations if you’re stuck.
Pirate Village (30-75): Buy Dark Step fighting style (150,000) once you can afford it. You’ll be grinding Brutes at level 40+. Group 3-4 together before killing. Buggy the Clown boss spawns at level 55+ - fight him whenever he appears. His loot isn’t amazing but the XP is worth it.
Desert (75-90): Simple grinding zone. Desert Bandits are easy to group up. If you have Chop fruit, this zone is a breeze since all enemies use swords (which can’t hit Chop users).
Frozen Village (90-120): Farm Snow Bandits at the bottom of the hill. Skip the Snowman quest - they’re too spread out. At level 100, immediately head to the cave and buy Aura (25,000), Air Jump (10,000), and Flash Step (50,000). These abilities are mandatory. Yeti boss spawns at 110+ - he’s similar to Gorilla King, just stronger.
Marine Fortress (120-150): Chief Petty Officers are your target. Group 3-4 at a time. At level 130, jump up the tower and buy Black Cape accessory (50,000) for +5% damage - best accessory in First Sea. Vice Admiral boss spawns at 130+ - dodge his blue sword dash and you’ll be fine. If you haven’t put points into Defense yet, get 300+ HP before moving on.
Mid-Game Islands (Levels 150-450)
Sky Islands (150-190): Sky Bandits (150+) and Dark Masters (175+) are on floating islands below the quest giver. Set your home spawn at the quest NPC, complete the quest, teleport home, and jump back down. Repeat until you hit 190. This zone is annoying because of the travel time, but grouping 3-4 enemies makes it bearable.
Prison (190-250): Welcome to the worst grinding zone in First Sea. Prisoners don’t group well, so just kill 2-3 at a time. The good news is there are three bosses here: Warden (220+), Chief Warden (230+), and Swan (240+). Save 500,000 to buy Electric fighting style at level 210 - this is mandatory. For Swan, use Observation Haki to dodge his AOE attacks and combo him with Electric moves.
Colosseum (250-300): Standard grinding. Fight Gladiators, group them when possible. Nothing special about this zone, but it’s where you should confirm you have a Logia fruit. If you don’t have one by level 300, keep using the Jungle Gacha every 2 hours until you do.
Magma Village (300-375): WARNING - enemies with black hands have Aura and CAN hit you even with Logia fruit. Only fight enemies without Aura active. Military Soldiers (300+) and Military Spies (325+) are your targets. Magma Admiral boss spawns at 350+ - dodge his magma fist attack (it’s slow, so you’ll see it coming).
Underwater City (375-450): At level 406+, your Logia makes you immune to Fishman Commandos - this is where grinding gets easy again. Group 4-5 Commandos and kill them all at once. If you skipped Electric fighting style, consider buying Water Kung Fu here (750,000) - it’s actually better than Electric but unlocks way later. Fishman Lord boss (450+) is the easiest boss in the game - lure him to a window and punch him through it. He literally can’t hit you.
Late Game Islands (Levels 450-700)
Upper Skylands (450-575): After beating Fishman Lord, climb the giant tree roots to reach this area. Farm God’s Guard enemies until level 575. Buy Observation Haki (750,000) from the temple here - critical upgrade for boss fights and PvP. Enel / Thunder God boss spawns at 575+ - dodge his lightning attacks with Observation Haki and you’ll be fine.
Fountain City (575-700): Final First Sea zone. Farm Galley Pirates (625+) - group 3-4 together for efficient grinding. Only fight Galley Captains if you DON’T have a Logia - they have Aura and will hit you. Cyborg / Franky boss (675+) is the hardest First Sea boss. He rapid-fires bullets and has a fart AOE attack that deals massive damage. Use Observation Haki for the bullets, dash away immediately when he bends over for the fart attack. Once you hit 700, talk to Military Detective at Prison to start the Second Sea quest chain.
Essential Upgrades and Equipment
As you progress through the First Sea, there are several upgrades you’ll need to prioritize. These range from mandatory abilities that change how combat works, to equipment that boosts your damage output.
Abilities you must get:
- Aura (25,000) - Buy at level 100 from Frozen Village cave. Increases defense by 10% (upgrades to +45% at max level) and lets you damage Logia users. Press
Jto activate. - Air Jump (10,000) - Buy at level 100 from Frozen Village cave. Lets you double jump in mid-air, essential for platforming and boss fights.
- Flash Step (50,000) - Buy at level 100 from Frozen Village cave. Press
Rto teleport forward, useful for dodging attacks and closing distance. - Observation Haki (750,000) - Buy at level 300 from Upper Skylands temple. Press
Eto activate - you’ll auto-dodge attacks while active. You get 4 dodges before it needs to recharge, critical for boss fights.
Best accessory for First Sea: At level 120+, jump up the Marine Fortress tower and buy the Black Cape (50,000) for +5% damage to everything. This is the best accessory for the entire First Sea. Other accessories exist, but none are better than Black Cape for grinding - buy it and never take it off.
Races don’t matter yet: Blox Fruits has six races (Human, Angel, Shark, Mink, Ghoul, and Cyborg), but here’s the reality - races barely matter in First Sea. You start as Human, and racial buffs are weak until the Second Sea where you can evolve your race. Don’t waste money on race rerolls until you’re in the Second Sea. It’s legitimately not worth it.
Swords and weapons: Swords are secondary to fighting styles in the First Sea. The free Katana is fine as a starter. Saber (level 200+, quest reward from Jungle puzzle) is decent if you followed the button puzzle earlier. Triple Katana (level 300+, bought from Frozen Village) is expensive but solid. Honestly? Don’t invest stat points in Sword until Second Sea - your fighting style + fruit is stronger for grinding. As for guns, they’re bad for PvE and only useful for PvP combos in late game. Skip them entirely in First Sea.
Currency explained: Money (Beli) is earned from quests and killing enemies - you’ll use it to buy fighting styles, abilities, accessories, and fruits. Fragments are earned from Raids (Second Sea+) and Sea Events (Third Sea) and used to awaken fruits and buy endgame upgrades. You won’t interact with Fragments in First Sea, so don’t worry about them until level 1100+.
What’s Next After First Sea
How long does this take? Casual players (2-3 hours/day) will hit level 700 in 2-3 weeks. Hardcore grinders can do it in a week. A Logia fruit cuts grinding time by 30-40%.
Unlocking the Second Sea: At level 700, talk to the Military Detective at Prison to start the Second Sea quest chain. You’ll fight escaped prisoners and the Ice Admiral before unlocking the portal to Second Sea.
What changes in Second Sea: New Logia fruits become available (Buddha, Dough, etc.). Race evolution unlocks, making your race actually matter. Raids and fruit awakening become available. Better swords and fighting styles unlock. Check out our Second Sea guide for the full level 700-1500 walkthrough.
Final Thoughts
Blox Fruits is grindy, but that’s the point. The satisfaction comes from seeing your character get stronger, unlocking new abilities, and finally reaching zones that used to one-shot you.
The First Sea is a test of patience. If you can push through to level 700, the Second Sea opens up better content, more engaging mechanics, and endgame progression systems.
Your immediate priorities:
- Get a Logia fruit from the Gacha (keep trying every 2 hours)
- Invest stats in Melee + Defense (or Blox Fruit if you have Logia)
- Buy Electric fighting style at level 210
- Buy Observation Haki at level 300
- Follow the leveling route in this guide
Stick to these principles and you’ll reach the Second Sea without wasting time on dead-end builds or inefficient grinding.
The grind is long, but every level gets you closer. Good luck out there.
