You’ve just hit level 700, unlocked the Second Sea, and suddenly everything feels different. Fragments, raids, fruit awakening, trading - there’s a completely new progression system you need to understand.

The Second Sea isn’t just “First Sea but harder.” It’s where Blox Fruits transitions from basic grinding to actual endgame systems. Awakened fruits change combat entirely. Races actually matter. Trading opens up. And if you don’t prioritize the right upgrades, you’ll waste hundreds of hours grinding inefficiently.

This guide covers everything: fragments (and why they matter more than money), raids and fruit awakening, Buddha fruit (the grinding meta), trading basics, race upgrades, new fighting styles, raid bosses, and advanced equipment.

If you completed our First Sea guide and you’re wondering what to do first in Second Sea - this is for you.

Quick Start: Grind to level 1,000 ASAP, start doing raids for fragments, get Buddha fruit if you don’t have it, upgrade your race to V3, and buy Observation Haki (750,000) immediately if you skipped it in First Sea.

Welcome to Second Sea: What Changes

When you hit level 700 in First Sea, talk to the Military Detective at Prison to start the Second Sea quest chain. You’ll fight escaped prisoners and the Ice Admiral, then unlock the portal to Second Sea located at the Prison.

What’s immediately different: Enemies hit harder and have more HP. Many enemies have Aura equipped (the black hands glow), meaning your Logia immunity doesn’t work on them. Quests give significantly more money and XP, but the grind from 700 to 1,500 takes 40-60 hours even with optimal routes.

New systems unlocked: Fragments become the second major currency used for awakening fruits, buying fighting styles, and race upgrades. Raids are repeatable dungeons that reward fragments and let you awaken specific fruits. Trading allows you to trade fruits and game passes with other players. Race V2 and V3 upgrades make your race actually useful (First Sea races barely mattered). New races (Ghoul and Cyborg) become available through quests. Sea Events spawn randomly while sailing, rewarding fragments and rare drops.

Stat reset is available: At the Mansion on Kingdom of Rose, an NPC sells stat refunds for 2,500 Robux or 75,000 Fragments. If your First Sea stat build was wrong, you can finally fix it. Most players reset stats around level 1,000-1,100 to optimize for their playstyle.

Starting location: You spawn at the Kingdom of Rose (level 700+). Your first grind is level 700-725 at the Mercenaries quest. Don’t grind the Raiders (level 700 NPCs) - they’re horribly spread out. Backtrack to Fountain City and grind Galley Pirates (625+) until you unlock Mercenaries (725+) if needed.

The Second Sea is where Blox Fruits gets good. You’re not just clicking quests anymore - you’re building toward awakened fruits, maxed races, and endgame equipment. Let’s cover what to prioritize.

Fragments and the Raids System

Fragments are the second currency in Blox Fruits. If money is silver, fragments are gold. You need thousands of fragments to awaken fruits, buy fighting styles, upgrade races, and purchase endgame items.

Fragment value comparison: 1,000 fragments ≈ 250,000 money in terms of purchasing power. You can’t actually convert fragments to money, but that ratio helps understand their value. Almost everything important in Second Sea costs fragments.

How to get fragments: The primary method is raids (covered next). Secondary methods include Sea Events - Ship Raids reward 50-100 fragments per encounter, Sea Beasts drop 250 fragments plus other rewards. Raid bosses like Cursed Captain and Darkbeard drop 1,500 fragments. Factory Core (covered later) rewards fragments to top contributors.

Where fragments are spent: Fighting styles cost 1,500-5,000 fragments. Race rerolls cost 3,000 fragments (random race change). Stat refunds cost 75,000 fragments (alternative to paying Robux). Awakening fruit moves costs 500-5,000 fragments per move depending on the move tier. Haki color customization costs 1,500-7,500 fragments.

Raids: How They Work

Raids are repeatable 5-island dungeons that reward fragments and unlock fruit awakening. Only certain fruits can be awakened: Flame, Ice, Sand, Dark, Light, Magma, Quake, Buddha, Spider, Rumble, Phoenix, and Dough. If you’re using any of these fruits, awakening them should be a top priority - awakened fruits are 2-3x stronger than unawakened versions.

How to start a raid: At level 1,100+, you can buy raid microchips. Go to Hot and Cold Island, find the hidden passage (red, blue, green, blue button pattern), and talk to the raid NPC. Buy a raid microchip for 100,000 money every 2 hours, or give him any random fruit to skip the cooldown. If you’re below level 1,100, ask a higher-level player to buy the chip for you - you can still participate in raids under level 1,100.

Raid structure: Up to 8 players can join (4 per side in the colored tubes). The player with the microchip stands in the dark blue tube and activates the raid. Everyone gets teleported to Island 1 of 5. Each island spawns waves of enemies - kill them all to proceed to the next island. Island 5 spawns a boss that uses the awakened version of the raid’s fruit type. You have 15 minutes to complete all 5 islands.

Raid rewards: If you complete the raid before the 3-minute mark on the timer, you get 1,000 fragments. After 3 minutes remaining, fragment rewards scale down (closer to 0:00 = fewer fragments). If you were using the same fruit type as the raid (e.g., Flame fruit in Flame raid), you teleport to a special awakening room. Talk to the NPC to awaken one move for fragments. Moves awaken in order: Z, X, C, V, F.

Awakening costs: First move (usually Z) costs 500 fragments. Later moves cost 1,000-5,000 fragments depending on the fruit. You can only awaken ONE move per raid completion. You’ll need to do 5 raids minimum to fully awaken a fruit. Example: Awakening Dark fruit fully costs 500 + 1,000 + 1,500 + 3,000 + 5,000 = 11,000 fragments + 5 raid completions.

Raid difficulty: Early raids (Flame, Ice, Sand) are easy to solo with Buddha fruit. Late raids (Dough, Phoenix) require Advanced Chips from Third Sea and are significantly harder. Most players join public raid servers or Discord groups to find parties - solo raiding without Buddha is extremely slow.

Which fruit to awaken first? If you have Buddha, awaken it immediately - awakened Buddha makes grinding 10x faster. If not, awaken whatever Logia you’re using (Magma > Light > Ice > Flame in priority). Quake awakened is strong for PvP but terrible for grinding. Phoenix and Dough require Third Sea access.

Raids are the Second Sea endgame loop. You’ll spend dozens of hours farming fragments to fully awaken fruits. Get comfortable with the raid system - it’s mandatory progression.

Best Grinding Strategies

The Second Sea grind from 700 to 1,500 is long. Here’s how to make it faster.

Buddha Fruit: The Grinding Meta

Buddha is the best grinding fruit in the game (tied with Kitsune, but Kitsune is exponentially harder to obtain). If you don’t have Buddha by level 1,000, getting it should be a top priority.

Why Buddha dominates: The Z move transforms you into a giant Buddha with massively increased melee/sword range. You can hit enemies from 15+ studs away. Damage reduction against NPCs is insane (90%+), making you nearly unkillable. Works with any melee weapon or sword - you don’t need fruit stats to benefit. No Mastery requirement - the Z move unlocks at level 1.

How to get Buddha: It’s a Legendary fruit worth 1,200,000 money or 1,650 Robux in stock. Check the Blox Fruit Dealer every 4 hours (stock changes). Use the Second Sea Blox Fruit Gacha at Cafe (costs more but gives better odds). Trade for it - Buddha is common enough that many players have extras. Buddha is cheap in trading value despite being expensive to buy.

Buddha grinding setup: Equip Buddha, activate Z transformation. Use any melee fighting style (Superhuman, Sharkman Karate) or sword (Saber, Triple Katana, TTK). Put stats into Melee or Sword depending on your weapon. Don’t put points in Blox Fruit stat - Buddha’s strength is the transformation, not fruit damage. Group 4-5 enemies, kill them all at once with your extended range. With Buddha, you can AFK grind many zones since enemies can’t damage you.

Buddha alternatives: If you can’t get Buddha, Awakened Light or Awakened Magma are solid grinding fruits. Awakened Ice is decent. Avoid Quake/Rumble/Phoenix for grinding - they’re better for PvP.

Trading Basics

Trading unlocks at the Cafe in Second Sea. Sit at the trading tables and another player can join. You can trade fruits, game passes (permanent fruits/gamepasses), and inventory items (money, boats, etc.).

Trade value limits: Trades must be within 40% value for normal fruits. Permanent fruits have no value restriction - you can gift them freely. You can only complete 5 trades every 8 hours.

Common trades: Trading a mid-value fruit (Quake, String, Venom) for Buddha is common. Trading permanent fruits to friends. Trading away fruits you don’t use for ones you need. Many players trade awakened fruit services - they’ll awaken your fruit if you provide fragments + a tip.

Trading etiquette: Always check fruit values before offering trades (community tier lists exist). Don’t scam - your reputation in servers matters. If someone helps you with raids, trade them a fruit as thanks. Trading is peer-to-peer, so be cautious with high-value items.

Stat Reset Strategy

By level 1,000-1,100, you should know your playstyle. If your First Sea stats were wrong, reset them.

PvE grinding build: 100% Melee or Sword (if using Buddha/melee weapons). Minimum 1,800-2,500 HP from Defense (enough to survive boss combos with Aura active). Ignore Gun entirely. Only invest in Blox Fruit if using an awakened Logia for grinding.

Hybrid build: Not recommended until Third Sea when you have enough points to max 2-3 stats. Early Second Sea, specialization is better.

How to reset stats: Mansion NPC at Kingdom of Rose sells refunds for 2,500 Robux or 75,000 Fragments. Fragments option is expensive but achievable by level 1,200+ if you do raids consistently.

Second Sea grinding is all about efficiency. Buddha + correct stats + raid fragments = you’ll hit level 1,500 in 2-3 weeks of casual play instead of 2+ months.

Essential Upgrades and Progression

Second Sea has several mandatory upgrades that dramatically improve your character.

Swan Glasses: Best Second Sea Accessory

Swan Glasses are arguably the best accessory in Second Sea. +25% movement speed, +8% damage, +8% defense, -8% cooldown reduction, +250 HP, +250 energy.

Requirements: Must be level 1,000+. Must give the NPC at Mansion an expensive fruit (1 million+ value). Recommended fruits to give: Quake, String, Paw, Barrier (all 1M+ value, none are top-tier for grinding). Don’t give him Buddha, Light, or Magma - you might need those.

How to get: Give the Mansion NPC a 1M+ fruit to unlock permanent access to Swan’s room. Swan (boss) spawns in his room every 30 minutes. Server hop until you find him. Defeat Swan - he’s not particularly hard, just has high HP. Swan Glasses have a 2.5% drop rate. Expect to kill Swan 40-50 times before you get them.

Is it worth it? Absolutely. Movement speed alone is game-changing for grinding efficiency. The stat bonuses stack with everything else. Wear Swan Glasses until Third Sea when better accessories unlock.

Race V2 and V3 Upgrades

First Sea races barely mattered. Second Sea races are important. V3 races unlock powerful abilities that help in combat.

Race V2 requirements: Must be level 850+. Must complete the Colosseum prisoner quest (part of Bartileo/Baro quest chain). Go to Green Zone Island, find the NPC near the giant flower. Collect 3 flowers scattered around the map (video guides show locations). Return to NPC, buy Race V2 for 500,000 money.

Race V2 buffs: Human - damage reduction. Shark - water speed buff. Angel - faster jump/flight. Rabbit - increased dash speed. Buffs are minor but noticeable.

Race V3 requirements: Must be level 1,000+. Must defeat Swan (Second Sea version) and get access to his room (see Swan Glasses section). Go to large flower bed at Kingdom of Rose. Complete race-specific quest - each race has different requirements. Human: Defeat 3 specific bosses. Rabbit: Collect 30 chests. Shark: Defeat specific NPCs. Angel: Defeat specific NPCs. Quests are straightforward but time-consuming.

Race V3 buffs: Each race gets a unique ability hotkey. Human - Last Resort (damage reduction + buff when low HP). Shark - Water Body (damage reduction + HP regen in water). Angel - Heavenly Blood (HP + energy regen over time). Rabbit - Agility (massive speed boost). V3 abilities are great for boss fights and PvP.

Race V3 cost: 2,000,000 money after completing the quest. Worth every penny - the active abilities are extremely strong.

New Races: Ghoul and Cyborg

Two exclusive races unlock in Second Sea through quests. Both require significant effort but are top-tier races.

Ghoul Race: Ghoul V3 is one of the best grinding races. Life leech on every hit. Abilities on 40% reduced cooldown. Extra movement speed. To unlock Ghoul, you need the Hellfire Torch (2% drop from Cursed Captain raid boss). Complete the quest at the Experimic NPC (hidden in zombie cave). Ghoul is hard to get but worth it for grinding.

Cyborg Race: Cyborg V3 is one of the best PvP races. Large AOE ability with high damage. Defensive buffs. To unlock Cyborg, you need to complete a long quest chain involving defeating specific bosses and collecting items. Check detailed guides for Cyborg unlock - it’s too complex to fully explain here but involves the Fajita NPC and multiple steps.

Should you get them? If you’re planning to main Blox Fruits long-term, yes. Ghoul is better for PvE, Cyborg is better for PvP. Both require Race V3 upgrade (2M) after unlocking the race itself.

Fighting Styles You Need

Second Sea unlocks four new fighting styles. All of them are significant upgrades from First Sea styles.

Dragon Breath (1,500 Fragments) - Located at Cafe upper floor. Cheapest Second Sea style. Decent damage with AOE abilities. Best option for early Second Sea (level 700-900) if you can afford the fragments. Moves have good range but slow startup.

Death Step (5,000 Fragments + 2,500,000 Money) - Upgrade of Dark Step, requires 400 Dark Step Mastery. Defeat Awakened Ice Admiral at Ice Castle for Library Key (10% drop rate). Use key to enter Mansion library. Buy from NPC inside. Death Step has fast combos and high damage. Great for PvP, solid for PvE.

Sharkman Karate (5,000 Fragments + 2,500,000 Money) - Upgrade of Water Kung Fu, requires 400 Water Kung Fu Mastery. Defeat Tide Keeper boss on small island for Water Key (10% drop rate). Use key at Forgotten Island NPC. Sharkman Karate has the fastest M1 attacks and extremely high DPS. Best Second Sea fighting style for grinding. Works perfectly with Buddha fruit.

Superhuman (3,000,000 Money) - Requires 300 Mastery on Dark Step, Electric, Dragon Breath, and Water Kung Fu. That’s 1,200 total Mastery across 4 styles. Located at Snow Island. No fragments required but the Mastery grind is long. Superhuman has balanced moves with good damage. Popular for PvP but Sharkman Karate is better for PvE.

Recommendation: Get Dragon Breath immediately for 1,500 fragments if you have them. Grind toward Sharkman Karate for the best PvE experience. Skip Superhuman unless you’re a completionist - the Mastery requirement is too high for the payoff. Death Step is great for PvP but not mandatory for grinding.

If you’re using Buddha, Sharkman Karate + Buddha transformation is the fastest grinding combo in Second Sea.

Bosses, Events, and Rare Drops

Second Sea introduces raid bosses and sea events that spawn randomly, offering rare drops and fragments.

Raid Bosses

Cursed Captain - Spawns at Cursed Ship every night (33% chance). Requires level 1,250+ to access Cursed Ship island. Red text in chat: “A shiver runs down your spine.” Drops: Red Spikey Coat (2%), Blue Spikey Coat (2%), Hellfire Torch (1%, used for Ghoul race). Easy boss, high fragment reward (1,500 fragments).

Darkbeard - Spawns on small island near Ice Castle when summoned with Fist of Darkness. Red text in chat: “The power of darkness has been unleashed.” Drops: Dark Coat (2%, one of rarest accessories in game), 1,500 fragments, 3 levels. Requires Fist of Darkness to spawn - obtained from Sea Beasts (5% drop) or chests after server is 4 hours old. Extremely rare boss, extremely rare drops.

Strategy: Farm Cursed Captain every night for fragments and coat drops. Don’t stress about Darkbeard until you accidentally get a Fist of Darkness - it’s too rare to actively farm.

Sea Events

Sea Events spawn randomly while sailing between islands. More likely to spawn when you’re far from islands in open water.

Ship Raids - 3 enemy ships spawn and attack your boat. 1 large ship (100 fragments) + 2 small ships (50 fragments each). Total: 200 fragments + small chance for fruit drop. Enemy ship HP scales with number of players on your boat. Easy to defeat, great fragment source.

Sea Beasts - Giant sea serpent spawns and attacks. Rewards: 250 fragments, 1 level, 60K-250K money, Choppa Hat (rare drop, 1% chance), Fist of Darkness (5% drop, used to spawn Darkbeard). Sea Beast HP scales with players: 1 player = 100K HP, 2 players = 125K HP, etc. Best sea event in the game for rewards.

Strategy: Sail between islands frequently if you need fragments. Bring friends - more players = higher spawn rates for sea events. Always fight Sea Beasts - the rewards are too good to skip.

Factory Core Event

Every 1 hour 30 minutes, red text appears: “We are breaching the factory in 30 seconds.” Go to Factory (tall dome next to Cafe). Door opens, revealing a core with 200,000 HP. All players attack the core. Player with most damage gets a free fruit + chance for Acidum Rifle (rare gun). Core despawns after 5 minutes.

Strategy: If you’re online when the text appears, rush to Factory and burst damage the core. With Buddha + Sharkman Karate, you can often secure top damage. Free fruit every 90 minutes is great value.

Advanced Endgame Content

For players level 1,300+, there are several endgame grinds worth pursuing.

Haki Colors (Fragment-Based)

You can customize your Haki/Aura color by spending fragments. Your Aura must be maxed level (requires consistent use from level 100+). Find the Horned Man NPC - he spawns randomly around the map. Normal colors cost 1,500 fragments. Legendary colors cost 7,500 fragments. Haki colors change your Aura outline and add colored effects to some swords/fruits.

Is it worth it? Purely cosmetic. Don’t spend fragments on Haki colors until you’ve awakened your fruit and upgraded your race. But if you have 10K+ fragments saved up, legendary Haki colors look incredible.

True Triple Katana

Mythical sword, arguably the hardest sword to obtain. Requires: Wado, Shisui, and Saddi swords (2M each, bought from Advanced Swords Dealer who spawns every 3-6 hours). 300 Mastery on all three swords. Climb to very top of giant tree at Green Zone Island. Talk to NPC at tree peak. Buy True Triple Katana for 2M. Total cost: 8M money + dozens of hours grinding sword Mastery.

Is it worth it? For sword mains, yes. For Buddha users or fruit mains, no - your time is better spent grinding levels or awakening fruits. TTK is strong but not mandatory.

Dark Blade V3

If you own the Dark Blade gamepass (Robux purchase), you can upgrade it to V3 variant (black/white color scheme). Requires: Level 1,000+, Dark Blade V2 equipped. All 4 races (Human, Shark, Angel, Rabbit) upgraded to V3 (10M total + quest completion time). Two Fist of Darkness (one to spawn Darkbeard, one to activate button at Graveyard Island). Completing the quest chain unlocks Dark Blade V3.

Important: Dark Blade V3 is purely cosmetic. No stat changes. Only pursue this if you’re a completionist or really love the aesthetic.

What’s Next After Second Sea

Once you hit level 1,500, you unlock the Third Sea quest chain. Talk to King Red Head at Colosseum, defeat Rip_Indra boss, then travel through the portal at Cafe.

What changes in Third Sea: New islands, enemies level 1,500-2,450. Advanced raids (Phoenix, Dough awakening). Fruits like Leopard, Dragon, Spirit become obtainable. Race V4 unlocks (massive power spike). Fighting styles like Godhuman and Sanguine Art. Cursed Dual Katana and other mythical swords. PvP bounty system activates fully. Sea Events become more common and rewarding.

Before entering Third Sea: Have at least one awakened fruit fully upgraded. Race upgraded to V3 on your main race. Sharkman Karate or Superhuman unlocked. 5,000+ fragments saved (for Third Sea purchases). Level 1,500 with optimized stats.

The Third Sea is true endgame - check out our Third Sea guide for the complete level 1500-2550 walkthrough covering Race V4, mythical weapons, and max level content. For now, focus on hitting 1,500 with an awakened fruit, V3 race, and good fighting style. The Second Sea grind is long, but the power spike you get from raids and race upgrades makes it worth it.

Final Thoughts

The Second Sea is where Blox Fruits transitions from basic grinding to real progression systems. Fragments matter more than money. Awakened fruits are 3x stronger. Races go from useless to essential. Trading opens up collaboration.

The grind from 700 to 1,500 takes 40-60 hours of efficient play. With Buddha fruit, raids for fragments, and proper stat allocation, you can cut that time significantly.

Your Second Sea priorities:

  1. Get Buddha fruit or awaken your Logia fruit (Magma > Light > Ice)
  2. Start doing raids at level 1,100+ for fragments
  3. Upgrade your race to V3 by level 1,300
  4. Get Swan Glasses (best accessory, 2.5% drop rate)
  5. Buy Sharkman Karate or Superhuman fighting style
  6. Save 5,000+ fragments for Third Sea expenses
  7. Farm Cursed Captain every night for fragments
  8. Reset stats around level 1,000-1,200 if needed

The Second Sea rewards players who understand the systems. Fragments, raids, and awakening are the core loop. Master them and you’ll reach Third Sea ready for endgame content.

The grind is real, but awakened fruits make it worth it. Good luck in Second Sea.
